As many of you may not know, FLL Park Safe is the ONLY lot in the FLL airport area that accommodates RVs, motorhomes, trailers and bus parking. Since this parking option has become higher in demand in Fort Lauderdale, FL, we thought we would provide some tips to our future RV goers on how they can effectively park their RV for long-term parking storage or short term parking storage. Here we go!
1 Clean exterior and interior
A clean RV makes a happy RV when you return from your trip! Before your long-term airport parking or cruise ship parking, we recommend cleaning the inside and outside of your RV. If you are not using our electrical RV parking option, empty and defrost your fridge to keep any unpleasant odors from occurring. Then leave your fridge open to prevent any mold from growing. While you clean the exterior, check for any cracks that would allow water to get in. Although rain is pretty rare this time of year in Fort Lauderdale, it never hurts to protect your RV from potential water damage.
2 Unplug appliances and other electronics
Unplug all of the appliances in your RV to prevent any potential electrical issues. Depending on how long you will be away, it doesn’t hurt to turn off the main breaker in your distribution panel. However, if you plan on choosing our electrical RV parking option, you won’t have to worry about this step!
3 Lock everything up
Although when you park with FLL Park Safe you’re leaving you RV in good hands, it never hurts to make sure everything is closed, locked and secure. Our lot is gated and equipped with top of the line security. We also have staff on site 24/7 to accommodate our clients to the best of our ability. You can rest assured that our RV-friendly parking is secure, but just for peace of mind, we recommend to lock up!
4 Close windows and curtains
That Fort Lauderdale, FL sunshine can be harsh on the carpet and furniture of your RV. That’s why we suggest closing all of your curtains and blinds to prevent it from shining through your windows. While you’re at it, make sure that all of the windows are closed to prevent any bugs or critters from making a home out of your RV!
5 Fill tank
No one wants to get to their RV after an exhausting day of traveling to find the E light illuminated. As we do with our regular airport parking, we recommend filling the tank before arriving to our lot.
6 Check tire pressure
Just like you would do when leaving a car parked long-term, it’s always a good idea to check the tire pressure. Make sure your RV’s tires are full in case any pressure is lost over the course of your trip.
